For a laugh a brother dropped a condom into the COs ministry bag. The following week a very p*ssed of PO mentioned it during his review of the CO visit. LMAO.

i just came back from the memorial
by J. Hofer init wasn't all that bad.
met a few friends who also don't give too much about it and had some great laughs afterwards.
we talked about how we still remember when only about 7000 took from the emblems and now its more than 11000. we also laughed about how it would look like having jesus and his disciples pass around wine and bread on a plate like that.. all in all it was the same procedure as every year.

I caught bits of last nights episode. They pointed to Deuteronomy 33:3 as being evidence that YHWH had a wife called Asherah. They reckon that ancient scribes misrote her name as 'host' which is very similar in Hebrew. Checked out my NWT but their claim didn't seem to add up, maybe I need to look at another translation.
Was was interesting was that we were reminded that there is a very long and complex history of the people of the bible lands that far pre-dates the time when the bible was written.
Oh and they also pointed to a piece of ancient pottery found in Isreal that has both the names of YHWH and Asherah on it.

You left for different reasons than myself.
At the time I didn't have a problem with the rules and restrictions, they seemed a small price to pay for eternal life in paradise.
I left when I realised that the whole setup and its doctrines were a load of crap. The moral code has for the most part stayed with me, ok I may be stretching this point a little but my life hasn't decended into debauchery.
If your only reason for leaving was to have a 'good time' then I can see why you are now ready to go back. This time though try to look at their teachings a little more objectively.

I can honestly say that in all my years as a JW I have only met one person who I would consider to be happy & single.
This brother was a CO who men wanted to be like and women wanted to be with. With his smile he could snap knicker elastic from 100 yards!
As for every other singleton, they would have traded their right arm to be married.
Another 'fact' is that rather than being looked up to by the congregation, single people (even those who have pioneered for 25 years) ae often treated as a figure of 'fun'.
My experience of congregations is that there is only a small pool of single people who very often marry at a very young age. In fact if I had not left the JWs whilst in my mid 20s I would probably still be single today.
I think the WTs motivation for the article is due to the organisations poor record of successfull marriages over the last 20 years. I find the amount of divorce and cases of adultery amongst my former peer group quite staggering.

Jehovahs Witnesses presumptive terms that that they apply to themselves
by Leprechaun injehovahs witnesses presumptive terms that that they apply to themselves: help me point out some more presumptive terms that do manipulate people by hearing it all the time.. .
1. gods clean organization" (as though, they are aware of all hidden secrets within the rank and file at any given moment , and they are arthorized from god to declare someone clean or not clean when in reality it is christ ransom that accomplishes this.).
2. the christian congregation" (as though, no one else can lay claim to being christian or christ like".

Did you carry any No Blood paraphernalia around?
by cult classic ini never really carried anything on me.
it was always fun getting the card signed and all (a welcome change of pace at the service meeting).
but i always thought it looked too weird to have that in my wallet.

No, and I don't remember anyone ever discussing the subject, except when the new cards were issued.
